Potty Training Toddler
Tips!
Welcome to this Potty Training Toddler Tips
page.
This is a very important time in your life and in the life
of your toddler. When your toddler grows up, he or she will not remember what you went through to get him or her
out of the diapers and onto the toilet, but you will.
I am hoping that the information on this site will help to
make this an enjoyable and fun time for both you and your toddler.
The tips below will work on boys or girls, however, if you
want tips precisely for you child's sex, I suggest you go to my Potty Training
For Boys or Potty Training For Girls pages.
A Few General Tips To Enrich Your Potty Training
Toddler Experience!
1. Make sure that your toddler has regular,
well-formed bowel movements. This will tell you that he or she is ready to hold bowel movements long enough
to get to the toilet (runny stools are very difficult to hold).
2. Make sure that you child has developed
enough that his or her diaper is dry for three or so hours at a time. This also tells you that your toddler
is able to "hold it."
3. Make sure your child is able to sit still
long enough to have a bowel movement in the toilet. If your child cannot sit still, you will have a mess
on your hands.
4. Make sure your child is able to tell you
when he or she has to go. The reason for this is obvious.
5. Make sure that your child is not
fearful of going in the toilet.
Potty training toddlers can be a pleasant
experience, if your child is ready. To help prepare your child:
6. Let your child watch you use the
bathroom. Of course, it would be better if the father can do it for boys and the mother for girls. The idea
behind this is that your toddler sees that there is nothing to be afraid of and that this is what
big people (and "big boys and girls") do.
7. Get a potty training toddler seat. It
will encourage your child to know that he or she has a potty of his or her own that is
toddler size. If your toddler tries the regular toilet and falls through, it could
be a long time before the next try.
Again, this is a general list that will work. The main thing is to be patient and make your potty training toddler
experience one to remember (in a good way).
